Position Description

Position Summary: The Peer Recovery Specialist will work collaboratively as part of the CCBHC team to support recovery and overall wellness of referred patients. The Peer Recovery Specialist will assist with a patients recovery efforts through individual goal setting, advocacy, mentorship, education, and addressing/ameliorating social determinant of health barriers. The Peer Recovery Specialist must have lived experience in recovery. Qualifications: Current certification as a Peer Recovery Coach. High School Diploma required. Two years of continuous recovery time. An understanding of different paths to recovery and a belief in harm reduction practices. Bilingual preferred. Cultural sensitivity necessary to work with a diverse patient population. Possession of a valid drivers license, reliable transportation, registration and auto insurance is also required. Community Care Alliance is proud to offer an array of services supporting individuals who are homeless/unstably housed and coping with mental health and substance use challenges. Many of these services are part of Safe Haven. The Harm Reduction Team is focused on saving lives by providing naloxone and education about its use, as well as a wide variety of supplies to ensure that individuals engaged in active substance use can stay alive and as healthy as possible. Services are delivered at our Safe Haven drop-in center and throughout the community. We are outdoors regularly and interacting with people in homeless encampments and other gathering spaces. We work closely with a wide variety of community partners. If you thrive in an environment where every day offers a unique new challenge, our team is for you. Must be certified as a Peer Recovery Specialist or willing to work towards certification. The cost of this training is covered. Support clients to build recovery capital if they are willing. Connect clients to Detox and higher levels of care. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate an understanding of mental health and substance use issues. Able to use an EHR and document services electronically. Position Description

This position is eligible for American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds which includes a one-time $750 sign-on bonus payable after the completion of 90 days of employment as well as a monthly stipend of up to $694.50 which is based upon the hours worked in the previous month for as long as the funds are guaranteed by the State. About Your Team Your team will provide in-home support that focuses on teaching caregivers the necessary skills to manage and maintain their children at home and provide intensive in-home services. The goal of the program is for families to take ownership of the changes they are making and to implement those changes after appropriate exist from the program. Your Main Priorities While additional responsibilities are likely to arise on the job, you will primarily: • Provides peer support to substance impacted individuals working toward recovery. • Works with youth and their families to stabilize the home and prevent placement disruptions. • Conduct substance use screenings in accordance with agency policy and administer contingency management rewards for negative screens. • Writes contact notes and uploads/transfers to an appropriate Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. • Maintain contingency management trackers and other tracking tools as required • Network with Rhode Island substance use communities and participate/host outreach events for the community. • Maintains relationships with partnering agencies. • Supports in-between session learning by practicing skills with clients and families. • Provides community support; identifies and attends community events. • Attends the required meetings to discuss cases, openings, opportunities, etc. • Acts as an additional resource for Practitioners to support youth and family engagement; attend intakes and sessions as needed. Physical Requirements Direct Service Staff (Travel as part of position): This position requires time sitting, standing, walking, driving, carrying and lifting up to 25lbs. This role also requires operating desktop, laptop and/or cell phone, and communicating with colleagues. Travel Requirements Site location: Providence Statewide travel required.
