Position Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Project/Process Engineer position plays a key role within the organization specifically in the areas of: engineering project management, support and continuous improvement. The primary function of this position is to ensure engineering projects meet expected outcomes in regard to project safety, deliverables, budgets, timing, and communications. In addition, the Project/Process Engineer will serve as a project manager for several of the engineering-related projects associated with the multi-phase expansion project. The Project/Process Engineer will lead the organization’s continual search for, and implementation of, continuous improvement projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
The Project/Process Engineer will:
Lead and manage process design and project implementation from concept through validation and turnover to manufacturing.
Primary Design Responsibilities Include:
Lead in Research and Devolvement of new projects as well as modifications to existing systems. Participate in all R&D plans & test runs, reports results when applicable
Engineer, design, and develop company projects taking into consideration space allocation, design fit for future equipment and process systems and optimization of existing manufacturing and building support systems
Perform preliminary project cost and payback analysis
Develop P & IDs, mass flow diagrams and sequences of operation
Specify, size and select new process equipment
Perform SME sanitary design review of existing systems as well proposed new machines and process systems
Develop engineering deliverables for construction, as appropriate, including plans, details, schedules and specifications. Lead cross-department design reviews
Oversee, review and approve the design work of contracted engineering consultants, vendors and original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s)
Review and approve vendor/OEM submittals, including shop drawings, schematics, cut-sheets and products/materials
Assure that engineering record documents are completed and turned over, to the appropriate stakeholders, at the conclusion of each project, including P&ID’s, drawings, sequences of operation, test and material certifications and operation & maintenance (O&M) manuals
Partners with appropriate teams to investigate and troubleshoot any manufacturing problems that arise with processes, procedures, and operations of new and existing company systems.
Primary Project Management Responsibilities Include:
Develop the scope of work and narrative for each project
Develop the overall Project Schedule, including phasing and key milestones. Develop the Project Budget. Maintain and update the project schedule and monitor the project budget as the project progresses
Lead project meetings with the project stakeholders. Provide regular/periodic updates relative to the project schedule and budget. Identify deviations and develop recovery plans
Coordinate and schedule internal resources required to implement projects
Develop bid packages and solicit contractor/vendor proposals. Select contractors/vendors and issue subcontracts/purchase orders. Schedule, coordinate, onboard/orient and oversee the work of contractors and vendors, assuring that the project schedule is maintained
Develop the project Startup & Commissioning Plan. Lead, schedule and coordinate the project startup and commissioning. Coordinate documentation, testing and project hand-off requirements with the Quality/Validation Groups
