Position Description
Position Overview:
Primary technical support person to the Quality Manager. Position requires technical competence, as the position will routinely interact with Manufacturing Engineering, Technical Services, Production, Design Engineering and Materials Management, as well as external suppliers,
Major tasks and responsibilities:
• Perform (individually or as a team member) Product Failure Analyses to determine root cause of failure, document analysis findings to drive Corrective Action and product improvement
• Perform visual and functional evaluation of all field returned products.
• Functional testing of returned PCBAs, assemblies and components.
• Recording complete and accurate results of all returned product evaluations.
• Perform quality audits to include Quality System, Regulatory Compliance, Product, and Process audits as directed by the Quality Manager. Prepare audit plans, reports of audit findings, and brief audit findings to interested parties. Perform follow-up validations of corrective actions resulting from audits to ensure corrective action effectiveness and suitability
• Assist in the preparation of Quality Department documentation such as Quality Control Plans, Quality Inspection procedures, or other items directed by the Quality Manager
• Perform First Article and Incoming Inspections
• Assist the Quality Manager in the management of key vendor (supplier) performance to include nonconformance analysis, tracking, and reporting; Supplier Corrective Action Requests preparation and tracking; and Vendor ScoreCard preparation
• Participate on Failure Mode Effects Analysis teams performing Design, Process, or Applications FMEA
• Monitor and report on company metrics that include but not limited to Internal Quality Yields, Scrap, Warranty, Supplier Quality and Cost of Quality
• Participate in New Product Development activities such as FMEA, DFM, PPI, Lean Manufacturing, Pilot Runs and Six Sigma
• Perform statistical analyses, such as Gage R&R, Process/Product Capability, and Pass Yields when appropriate or directed. Explain findings of these studies to interested parties and recommend appropriate actions that should be taken based on analysis results
• Maintain documents and records both paper and electronic
• Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager
Qualifications:
• ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) preferred
• Familiarity with GD&T preferred
Education and Experience:
• Associates Degree in a technical discipline such as Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or three years of related quality experience in a high volume electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
• Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to effectively write technical reports and correspondence. Able to effectively communicate orally to groups.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Project, Visio and Power Point).
• Understand proper use of measurement equipment (Calipers, micrometers, pin gages, height gages, plug and ring gages). The ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Experience inspecting to IPC-610 preferred
• Experience programming or operating a CMM or Optical Comparator is a plus
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Able to develop detailed instructions, procedures and flow-charts.
